Alcohol is one of the most abused substances among pregnant women in developing nations, despite its teratogenic effects on the unborn baby. Prenatal alcohol exposure can significantly influence the development of a child, which may result in a range of structural, cognitive and behavioural defects. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes and practices of alcohol abuse among pregnant women attending antenatal clinics at Kitwe Teaching Hospital and Wusakile clinic.
